hacienda-heights_01The Hacienda La Puente Unified School District is one of the largest K-12 districts in California with more than 2,200 certificated and classified employees and more than 16,300 students. It also has the second largest singularly administered adult school in the state. Hacienda La Puente Unified School District serves the beautiful communities of Hacienda Heights, La Puente, Valinda and City of Industry. The communities are located in Los Angeles County 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, in the San Gabriel Valley. Hacienda Heights and Valinda are unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County and are primarily residential. La Puente incorporated in 1956, is predominately residential with some major manufacturers. There are many parks and public facilities throughout the community with mountains, beaches and recreational attractions nearby. The beautiful weather of California allows residents to experience outdoor activities which contribute to overall health and well-being. Southern California offers a wide variety of cultural events, museums, art and educational experiences. The District office is approximately 23 miles east of Los Angeles Civic Center and less than one mile from the Pomona Freeway at the Hacienda Boulevard off-ramp.

District Goals: The Hacienda La Puente Unified School District is dedicated to maximizing the talents, interests, and abilities of all its students, enabling them to meet the challenges and opportunities of a changing world. The district curriculum is based on the California State Frameworks. Classroom instruction is integrated, thematically applied, technologically integrated, and sensitive to the individual learning styles of students and the needs of the multicultural community we serve.

Demographics
The District serves more than 30,000 students; 16,300 pre-K-12 and 14,000 adult education students in the diverse communities of City of Industry, Hacienda Heights, La Puente and portions of Valinda and West Covina.

Schools
Learning facilities include: four comprehensive high schools, one alternative high school, one Community Day School, 16 K-6 elementary schools, six K-8 and four middle schools, one orthopedic unit for students with disabilities, extensive child development and early primary programs, and two main Adult Education facilities.
